Texas Rig Basics:
The Texas rig uses a bullet style sinker and worm hook.
The sinker goes on the main line with the tip of the sinker facing up.
Tie the hook on the end of the main line and you are ready to go.
Almost always the soft plastic will be tied on weed less. To do this you insert the hook in the nose of the bait and put it into the center of it about a ¼ inch deep and poke it out the side. Take the exposed hook and tuck it back into the bait about two inches down leaving the bait as straight as possible.
An option some people like is to “peg” the sinker. This means you use a toothpick and push the tip into the top of the sinker and break it off to “lock” the sinker in place and keep it from sliding.
Another good idea is to use a bead between the sinker and hook to create a clicking noise when the two tap. A glass bead makes the most noise but can break when constantly hitting rocks.
